Was born (on 13 November 1979) and raised in the Andria area of Puglia. At the end of the 1990s he moved to Rome and enrolled in the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia but eventually left the school without receiving his diploma. He initially got involved in theatre and then in 2000 joined the cast of the TV drama "Ama il tuo nemico 2" directed by Damiano Damiani. In the following year he was cast in "Compagni di scuola" (directed by Tiziana Aristarco and Claudio Norza) and "Io ti salverò" (directed by Mario Caiano). His first big-screen appearance in Marco Tullio Giordano's “The Best Youth” sparked quite a lot of interest and he went on to appear in “Now or Never” (2003) by Lucio Pellegrini. His first feature film lead role in “Prova a volare” by Lorenzo Cicconi Massi was followed by “Three Steps Over Heaven”, based on Federico Moccia's eponymous best-seller. The film brought him widespread fame and even sealed his reputation as a sex symbol, making him one of the country's most sought after young actors: his next film was “Texas”, a first film by Fausto Paravidino, and he was among the stellar cast of “Crime Novel” by Michele Placido. In 2006 he starred in Canale 5's six part TV miniseries, “Black Arrow”, based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. He appeared in no less than four films in 2007: “My Son is an Only Child” by Daniele Luchetti, “Manuale d'amore - Capitoli successivi” di Giovanni Veronesi, “Go Go Tales” by Abel Ferrara, and “Ho voglia di te”, based on Moccia's novel of the same name Moccia, and directed by Luis Prieto. He was back on the big screen in 2008 with the thriller “Colpo d'occhio”, directed by Sergio Rubini. After this came: “Italians”, by Giovanni Veronesi, “The Big Dream”, helmed by Michele Placido, “Eden is West”, by Costa-Gavras and “The Front Line”, directed by Renato De Maria, all released in 2009. In March 2010 he appeared in Ferzan Ozpetek's “Loose Cannons” starring alongside Alessandro Preziosi and Ennio Fantastichini.
