He was born in London. He trained as an Actor at the Guildhall School of Drama. Started Directing in the theatre; first at The Croydon Warehouse and then at Theatre Royal Stratford East. He ran the Soho Theatre for three years and then started directing film and television as a freelance director. His debut in Television was in 1994 with the tv movie Rapsberry, in Cinema was in 2017 with Funny Cow followed by Cordelia.
