Marco Giallini

Marco Giallini was born in Rome in 1963. After attending art school, he approached the Theatre world, under the wing of directors as Arnoldo Foà, Ennio Coltorti and, above all, Angelo Orlando. Just the latter, impressed by his qualities as an actor, invites him to join the cast L’anno prossimo... vado a letto alle dieci (1995), the first major role for Giallini, which will mark his actual debut at the cinema, after some appearances in previous works. In 1998 the director Marco Risi, inserted him in the cast of his film L’ultimo Capodanno. The film represents an important launching pad for the Roman actor. Still in 1998, the first co-starring role for Giallini arrives in the film The Scent of the Night, directed by Claudio Caligari, next to his colleague and friend Valerio Mastandrea, who presented him to Risi and who represents an important presence for the film career of the Roman actor. Still in the same year, he took part in the second film by Angelo Orlando, Barbara. From 2000 the activity of Giallini intensified, playing increasingly important roles, as in the case of Police Chief Sarrina in Almost Blue, the directorial debut of Alex Infascelli. After this excellent performance, he works with several debutant directors, as protagonist or co-star in films such as Three Point Six (2001), I am Emma (2002), B.B. and the Cormorant (2003) and Roundtrip (2003). In 2004, Infascelli calls him in his second film, The Vanity Serum and Sergio Castellitto inserts it in his film Don’t move. In addition to the Theatre and the Cinema, Giallini started working for TV at the end of the 1990s, making his debut with the miniseries Operazione Odissea. The big success on the small screen then came in 2008 with the role of Il Terribile in the series Romanzo criminale. In 2009-2010 he took part in the famous detective series La nuova squadra. She also acted in Me Them and Lara (2010) by Carlo Verdone, Love and Slaps (2010) by Sergio Castellitto, All at Sea (2011) by Matteo Cerami. In 2012 he won the Silver Ribbon as best supporting actor for two films, the famous ACAB - All Cops Are Bastards by Stefano Sollima and A Flat for Three by Verdone. The following year is the turn of Tutti contro tutti by Rolando Ravello and Out of the Blue, directed by Edoardo Leo, with whom he also works for Them Who? (2015). In 2016 he played in Assolo, written and directed by Laura Morante, and plays the role of Rocco in Perfect Strangers by Paolo Genovese, for which he obtained, as Best Actor, a nomination for the David di Donatello and an award for the Ciak d'oro , in addition to the special silver ribbon along with the whole cast. Also for Genovese he takes part in The Place in 2017 and in the same year he is in the cast of Beata ignoranza of Massimiliano Bruno. In 2018, on the other hand, he is the protagonist of Io sono tempesta, directed by Daniele Luchetti, and of Forgive Us Our Debts by Antonio Morabito, the first Italian film distributed by Netflix.
