Paolo, played by Gerard Blain, is a young man from Nola who has just back from the Army. One of the rules of the Camorra is that the merchants have to pay a duty to have the passage permit. Paolo, however, doesn’t accept and has a fight with a henchman. The Camorra leader manages to convince him to work for him but then he does the so-called “sgarro” (affront) and marks his death sentence. The farmers will come to his aid.
